Mission Partners


Christ Church has links with a number of missions which it supports in prayer and financially and, in some cases, by direct action. Each month one mission is designated for particular support. The following missions are being supported in 2010.

    

Schools Christian Action Team (SCAt)

SCAt members in Woking visit primary schools, secondary schools and Woking College on a regular basis to lead Christian assemblies, to help with RE lessons and to encourage school Christian Unions and clubs.

Habitat for Humanity                                   

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian charity working to eliminate poverty housing worldwide. A team from Christ Church will be going to in June to help build decent homes for vulnerable children

Christians Against Poverty

Christians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity with a network of 100 centres based in local churches. CAP offers hope and a solution to anyone in debt through its unique, in-depth service.

Graceworks - Christ Church Youth Ministries

                                                 Summer Missions

Each Summer 20 or 30 Christ Church young people go on missions abroad. This year they will be going to Goa(India) & Kenya.

Wycliffe Bible Translators

Wycliffe Bible Translators is an international mission with about 6000 members worldwide who aim to provide a translation of the Bible into every vernacular language.

Church Mission Society (CMS)

CMS supports the mission of the Church worldwide by sending mission partners to work alongside local churches and by providing resources for mission

Turning Point Trust,

Turning Point is a Christian mission started by two former youth workers at Christ Church and Holy Trinity Knaphill. It runs two centres in the Kibera slum in Nairobi to provide destitute children with food, education, skills training and other help to become self-sufficient

Ludhiana Christian Medical College,

Ludhiana CMC is a non-governmental Christian teaching hospital in North India which trains medics for service throughout as well as serving the needs of its local area

A Rocha

A Rocha is an international Christian organisation promoting care for God’s world through conservation projects in15 countries.

Across (Cross-Cultural Ministry)

ACROSS is a Christian organisation supported by local churches, seeking to promote cross cultural understanding. Asif Mall, a member of St Andrew's, Goldsworth Park, is the ACROSS co-ordinator

TEAR Fund

Tearfund is a Christian relief agency that works through local churches and Christian groups to support humanitarian relief projects all over the world

Compassion

Compassion works through local churches in 25 of the world’s poorest countries to help over a million children who live in poverty.

Love Russia

Love is a Christian charity serving destitute children in working in orphanages and secure homes and giving support for college education

 

 York Road Project

The York Road Project is a Direct Access emergency night shelter for homeless people in Woking, offering a breathing space for people who find themselves homeless.
